Bio
My journey to becoming an Osteopath began after experiencing the remarkable benefits of osteopathy following an injury from a fall in the mountains. This treatment not only alleviated my pain but also revealed to me the holistic nature of osteopathy—an approach that considers the entire body to restore balance and relieve pain. Over the past 20 years, I have refined my skills, specializing in Cranial Osteopathy, a gentle and effective technique that I find personally beneficial and that my clients consistently appreciate.
Throughout my career, I became curious about why some individuals recover fully from injuries while others develop chronic pain. This curiosity led me to SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners Association) training, which provided the missing piece of the puzzle and guided me on my personal path to overcoming chronic pain. Drawing from my own experiences, I now integrate the SIRPA approach with Osteopathy, offering clients a unique and highly effective combination of relaxing, hands-on therapy and accessible mind-body education and training.

“Catrin Mear has been treating me for more than 10 years and as a result although in my 80’s I remain active and energetic. Her methods may seem unusual at first as she only includes what appear to be very gentle pressure but the effects are wonderful.”

My Approach
My goal is to blend the latest scientific research with 150 years of osteopathic healing tradition, alongside the natural wisdom that our bodies have acquired through millions of years of evolution. I believe that everyone has an innate memory of being healthy, always present and accessible, and my role is to help you reconnect with it.
My hands on approach helps your body to relax and let go of tension and pain whilst calming your nervous system and no clicks, cracks or crunches which you might experience with other Osteopaths . The mind-body training explains why your chronic pain has occurred, how to manage it by retraining the brain and processing emotions, as well as changing the way you perceive pain signals. This empowers your return to normal activities with confidence, helping you rebuild strength and overcome the effects of inactivity caused by fear and pain.
Treatment Suitability
My Osteopathic approach is suitable for all the family but the combined osteopathy and mindbody approach is ideal for adults dealing with chronic back, neck, or joint pain, headaches, and migraines, post-surgical or post-injury pain that hasn’t resolved, persistent unexplained pain triggered by ongoing or past stress or trauma and other stress-related symptoms such as tinnitus, eczema, or irritable bowel syndrome.
